Program Objectives
- Define the role of the Medical Legal Nurse Consultant and the setting in which they practice.
- Identify standards of practice and areas of nursing liability.
- Establish the elements of malpractice.
- Explain the legal process as it relates to medical negligence.
- Identify negligence vs. bad judgment.
- Recognize the research tools available when analyzing cases.
- Complete a four week internship program in a law firm.
- Demonstrate how to review medical records and prepare a detailed summary and analysis.
- Complete three case reviews of medical records and chronologies using the four point technique.
- Discuss methods to protect your consulting business.
- Marketing Yourself: Scheduling initial meetings with an attorneys, conducting yourself at an interview, and promoting your business.
Admission Policy
The Medical Legal Nurse Consulting Program is offered to registered nurses who have been in active clinical practice for 5 years or more.
Registration Deadline
To reserve your space, registration and pre-payment must be received two weeks prior to the start of the program.
Payment/Cancellation
A deposits of $100.00 are due prior to the start of the course. We understand that circumstances arise that require cancellation. Cancellations received five (5) business days before the start of class will be granted a full refund less a $20.00 enrollment processing fee. Cancellation received less than five (5) business days before the start of class, will be granted a voucher for use toward any future NALNCE seminar program. In the alternative, a substitute attendee may take the place of a registered enrollee. No refunds or vouchers will be granted for cancellations received after the first week of class Upon cancellation of a program by NALNCE, registrants will receive a full refund.
Registration Fee
Tuition for the course is $2800 and must be paid in full at the conclusion of the first class. Workbook included. All major credit card payments accepted. Checks and money orders, made payable to New England Medical Legal Consultants.
